This report documents the donation of instructional charts carried out by African Literacy Project (ALP) at Aduwawa Secondary School. The intervention was implemented as part of ALP’s commitment to improving teaching and learning outcomes in public secondary schools through targeted, needs-based support.
Instructional charts are known to improve lesson delivery, boost student understanding, and foster engagement. The assessment identified an opportunity to enhance teaching and learning through the provision of these materials.
This prompted the implementation of the instructional charts donation to support teaching and learning at the school.
The objectives of this intervention were to:
On 27 January 2026, African Literacy Project (ALP) donated a set of instructional charts to Aduwawa Secondary School. The charts were formally received by the school management headed by the principal, Comr. (Mrs) Violet Ojemolon, and placed in the classroom to support teaching and learning in various subject areas.
The instructional charts donated will support key subject lessons at the senior secondary level. Charts illustrating the skeletal system, circulatory system, digestive system, male and female reproductive systems, respiratory system, ear, nose and throat, as well as mouth, tongue and speech were provided to support lessons in Biology. To strengthen Geography instruction, charts depicting the solar system, map of Nigeria, world map, pollution, and means of transportation were also supplied. In addition, charts on the periodic table, chemical reactions, compounds and mixtures, and crude oil were made available to support Chemistry lessons.
The charts were placed in the SS1 Science class to support subject instruction at that level. A total of 65 students in the SS1 Science class will benefit directly from the use of these visual learning aids during classroom lessons.
Students and teachers expressed appreciation for the new learning materials, noting their usefulness in improving lesson comprehension and classroom engagement. Short interviews conducted with beneficiaries indicated that the charts would support interactive teaching methods, improve lesson clarity, and foster better student participation. School leadership commended ALP’s ongoing commitment to providing practical resources that address classroom needs.
